What Has To Be Known About Types of Child Custody

If we want to really understand custody for children we must first see the types that are possible. Contrary to what some people believe, this topic is not as easy as just giving one parent full custody. In fact, four different child custody cases have to be discussed. Courts decide what the best one is when divorces happen. We thus deal with physical custody, sole custody, joint custody and legal custody.

Legal custody definitely is important. A parent with legal custody can make every decision that is connected with the needs of the child. This is not limited to but also includes education and religion. Most courts try to award a joint legal custody. This is basically preferred as we will see both the father and the mother having legal rights. It is highly important at all times to see that both of the parents are preoccupied with the life of their child.

Physical custodies can also be awarded by courts. This basically means that the child is to live with a parent while the other one has visitation rights. When children can spend equal amounts of time with fathers and mothers the possibility of joint physical custody. This case brings in equal rights and time spent with children for both parents.

The one child custody type we find to be really drastic is sole custody. This is where just one parent gets the right to everything. Legal and physical custody is included. The good news is that even if sole custody is awarded Family Courts do not want to completely eliminate one child from the life of one parent. This will only happen if we can find proof that one of the parents can not properly raise a child. Legal sole custody is always rare.

The last type of child custody is the common joint custody. This is one common type that is really good for children if all details are worked out properly. Every person that has to deal with cases of child custody has to hire a lawyer to represent his case. You are about to be involved in a huge decision that can impact your child’s life so there is a need to be very attentive.

Facts Linked with Mothers Rights Child Custody

The last 100 years saw us in front of many changes in mothers rights for child custody. In the beginning of the nineties the father received custody in almost all cases. This happened at that point in time due to the man’s financial power. Nowadays money is no longer the most important factor that decides child custody. Now we do see an equal approach to both the rights of the father and of the mother. Although the mother might not gain as much money as the father she will not lose custody because of this.

Till the seventies new changes appeared in custody giving. In that period courts believed that mothers are better as sole caregiver. As time passed everything evolved to standards we see today. Nowadays all decisions are taken on situations that will favor the child. Even if this is the case we can see a number of courts that will favor mothers when dealing with custody battles. These courts think that mothers are offering primary child care because they are involved in most activities since the moment they give birth. Contrary to what you might believe, even if you are not financially stable you might end up with advantages as the mother of the child in a custody case. Some of the strategies that you can use are to work really well when talking about custody.

While we are faced with an important role for the mother, the father is also at least equally important. Nowadays it seems that most people know how important it is to keep both parents involved so that the child can develop properly. If the parents divorce and a child custody case begins, problems will appear. Even after a divorce we can say that having both parents around the child is the best possible solution. While most courts will show a favoring of mothers rights in child custody cases, this does change and equality is put into both parents. The perfect solution is to look for that arrangement that is the best and will suit the child’s interests.

Games to Play with Toddlers to Spend Quality Time

Babies always love to play games, and particularly they love to spend one-on-one quality time with their parents.  Simple and easy games give great stimulations for toddlers and helps in a toddler growth by developmentally suitable activities.  This article gives some easy toddler games that keep the toddlers engaged and also this gives developmental growth for young toddlers.

The first easy game for toddlers is where the baby is and this is well-known game for everyone, particularly appropriate for young toddlers.  Hide a small toy or baby doll under blankets or under pillow or under clothes or behind any objects when a toddler is watching their parents.  Make the toddlers to find out where the baby gone and just watch the fun when the baby searches the baby doll with great joy.  This game makes the young child very happy with the great feel of success as they find the doll every time.

Young toddlers also love to make some unusual noises, especially when they play with some instruments which are not a musical instrument.  Collect some old oatmeal container or any other food boxes and place it around the toddlers in the form a circle, also parents can use old pots and pans and keep it upside down around the toddlers.  Make the young toddlers to use his/her hands or any wooden spoons to make some noise by banging on the pans or containers.  This game is the excellent activity for the young toddlers and makes them always busy while making dinner.

Easy bowling games can be prepared with empty bottles, and this can be made by adding 3 or 4 empty bottles and give a large ball to the toddler.  Show the toddler on how to use this ball to hit the empty bottles and how to roll the ball towards the bottles, and this is a very delightful game for toddlers to watch the bottles tip over.  Make a home-made cave, and hide out in a do-it-yourself cave, especially with their parents, can be a lot of excitement for them.  The home-made cave can be made by covering a blanket on the kitchen table or push two small sofas together and place it with a small blanket or sheet, and thus cave is done.  Every toddler always love to express themselves, just turn on any fast music or track, and get down on the knees to dance with the child, as expensive toys does not bring such an enjoyment in the toddlers face.

What Deciding Factors Count When You Think About How To Get Child Custody

You really have to think about a number of important factors when analyzing how to get child custody. The most important one is to understand what the courts consider when awarding custody. You can believe a lot of wrong this, thus leading to a lot of serious consequences. Understanding court wishes allows people to create a really good case. Also, you do need to think about lawyers. After all, the talk is about the child. The received advice will be priceless.

When thinking about custody courts will mainly address the mental and physical state of the child. Age and sex are also important. Most children have really well established patterns of life and if we do disturb them we might be faced with problems. We will be faced with a further analysis of the child’s home, school and even surrounding community in this case. Even quality in education is going to be analyzed and the topic here is trying to understand what impact status changes can have on children. Also, one really important factor if the child is other 12 is what he/she wants. The child does have some personal preferences and courts are to take them all into account although only few parents realize this. Courts will then analyze parents. It is really important to analyze both the physical health and the mental health of children. Equally important is the lifestyle of the parent and several social factors that might offer benefits or harm a child. As anyone can imagine, parent financial power is considered and of equal value we have the bond seen between parent and child.

When the factors mentioned above are similar the court will have to make a very hard decision. In this particular case, when thinking about child custody you need to understand that we also have one really decisive factor. The talk is mainly about the stable environment suitable for children that a parent can offer. It is also important to look at the parent that does want to offer continuity in keeping both parents around the child. As an example, any parent that wants to eliminate the other one without any good reasons is to gain many negative votes. Handling child custody is really difficult and this is one process that is to cost much money and last a long time.

What To Know About Toddler TV

If the amount of time spent by toddlers watching TV is not monitored, they can get addicted to it because they love and enjoy TV.  Children experts recommend that children above two years of age should watch a maximum of 1 or 2 hours of TV a day.  For those below the age of two, no TV should be allowed for them.  This is because their brains are not mature enough to understand the fast motions on TV and it is very easy for them to go into autopilot.  This is not followed by most parents who have turned the TV into a babysitter because it makes the child happy and gives them a chance to work.  Because of this, toddlers end up watching TV on average four to five hours every single day.  The habit of toddlers watching TV should be trimmed when they are still very young and not when they are already too used to the habit.

When watching TV, it is important for parents to use that time to educate their children and not just settle for whatever they find on TV.  The programs should be entertaining and should teach the toddler something after it is over.  It is important to exercise discipline and to switch off the TV as soon as the program the toddler was watching is over.  Warn the toddler about three minutes before the program ends that the TV is going to be switched off and that they should be prepared to go do something else.  It is also important to have a defined schedule of what time the TV is switched on and when it will be off.  To make this easier, parents can record what they want their children to watch so that they can watch it at the right time.

Toddlers should watch calm and slow-paced programs because they can actually understand what they are watching and therefore learn from them.  Toddlers should not watch any form of violence because they learn from what they watch and they will behave in the same way.  Adult themed movies and scary ones are also not good material for children.  Programs should be interactive and prompt the toddler to repeat certain words or phrases and can also require the toddler to move around or dance.  When a parent watches TV with their toddler, it makes the child feel that they are important and that the parent is interested in what they are doing and they care about what they are watching.

The Best Tips For Parenting Teens

Parenting a child of any age brings its own difficulties and challenges.  With newborns, there’s the task of figuring out how to be a proper parent in the first place.  Toddlers get into everything all the time and need constant supervision, not to mention that they like seeing how much they can get away with as they learn about the world around them.  And then you have teenagers, who are often considered to be the most difficult stage to parent at because teenagers are constantly pushing limits and testing boundaries to try and identify their place in the world.

It can be hard to properly parent a teen because you have to balance being stern and settling limits with letting teenagers find their own place in the world.  It’s especially difficult to know when to step in when a teenager doesn’t open up about the problems in their lives, which means that knowing when to step in is very difficult.  Many parents assume that in order to have a good relationship with their teenager, they can’t ever have arguments or disagree but that is actually quite false.  Arguments and disagreements can actually be a sign of a positive parent and child relationship because it means that the parents have stepped in to take an active role in their child’s life and set proper boundaries.

One of the most common issues facing those parenting teens is the issue of illegal drugs.  Teenagers will be exposed to drugs at least once so they need to know how to properly react and make a good choice when it comes to using them and what their dangers are.  It’s also important to have open, honest discussions about sex, protection, unplanned pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases.   Being honest about these things can help make sure that your teen is capable of making the best decisions on their own when they are faced with these things.

However, it’s also very important to actually listen to your teenager when they express opinions and beliefs so that they feel like they are valued in a family.  Talking things out with teens lets them know that they and their opinions are valid no matter what.  They need to know that even if they make a bad choice and mess up you will still be there to love them and help them.  One of the challenges of parenting teens is making sure that they grow up to be good adults and communication is key to making sure they grow up right.

Temporary Child Custody – What Is It?

There are a lot of child custody types, each with different indications and rules that always have to be followed to the letter. One child custody type that is really important is temporary child custody. It is highly important and will just be given for short periods of time. The time frame is usually given because different investigations need to be performed. As we all expect, courts think about the best possible care for children.

Temporary child custody is mostly given when different factors get involved. The one example that is most common is linked with parents taking part in divorces and not still living in the same house. One parent usually gets temporary child custody if such a case happens. Although in most situations that is the parent that will receive full custody at the end of it all this is not a general rule.

Temporary child custody time varies from case to case but a minimum of 1 month is usually standard. Unfortunately we can say that we usually see divorce related legal disputes lasting long periods of time. Good news comes from the fact that the parent without temporary child custody will get rights to visit. In most situations the child’s wishes are mainly taken into account and not other factors. Unfortunately there were many studies that pointed out that children can be negatively impacted by such circumstances. The child gets used to new ways of living and when divorces end this can change again. This has to be the number one reason why in most situations we see that the parent that gains temporary child custody is to also gain full custody. What you need to remember is that you should seriously think about trying to make the divorce as fast as possible. This reduces the immediate impact that will appear on your child and this is what actually needs to be important, much more important than spouse problems.

Tips For Potty Training Toddlers

When toddlers learn how to use the bathroom without help, parents become happy and many will want this eventually.  But, until parents and guardians reach this stage, it has to be a toil when potty training toddlers.  Some people will say toilet training when others say potty training but, the bottom line is to impact bathroom skills in a toddler.  Many will suffer confusion when they receive a lot of contradicting information and tips about this topic and this needs not be so.  When embarking on training toddlers for the potty, people will need clear strategies that will work.

This article will offer information on good pointers to train any toddler to the potty effectively and steps involved are keys.  There are no major complications and the following will do the job.  It will not hurt to begin with optimism because without being positive, disappointment might get the better of people.  To get excellent results, the toddlers must be ready to learn and it is good to know the right age in which to start training them for the john or potty.  Although it is a bit difficult to know about the age of the toddler that is ideal to train, it is good to train those that can understand simple instructions.

Many toddlers will be way ahead of their age while others will prove to be a bit slow.  These factors must be considered so as to treat each toddler individually according to their abilities.  When the child is ready, it is important to think about the actual potty training devise to be used.  Examples in devises include potty chairs which are very good as well as adapter seats as the actual toilet of the home.  It is vital to specialize with a single devise so as not to bring confusion to the child while training.  Each devise will have its advantages and flaws.

With potty chairs, toddlers will be at ease because they do not just have the support for their legs on the ground but will also feel like they own the devise.  It will be the best initial method to undertake to ensure that the child adapts easily.  It is a process that will take lots of patience at first but forming routine will make all the difference.  This process of transition will see toddlers become children that are able to help themselves in a better way.  For sure, with success, caretakers will be glad to forget the old methods.  But, with toddlers, always allow some room for disappointment.

Common Parenting Problems: Children With Anger Issues

Being a parent means dealing with a lot of responsibility and especially as children grow older they can be hard to handle sometimes.  One of the most common parenting problems that parents experience is having a child with anger issues.  Most often it is children in their teenage years that become angry at their parents and often for no apparent reason.  As a parent if you ever see your child displaying anger towards you or anyone else for that matter, it is important to deal with the situation and not just hope for the best.

Never get into a fight with your child even if they try to start one with you.  It may seem that this is the only way to defend yourself but remember that you are the parent and they are the child.  Know that you are not alone because there are thousands of other parents out there who are dealing with the exact same thing with their own child.  To figure things out you need to work on determining just where this anger is stemming from.

If you and your spouse have just gotten divorced or maybe there is a new baby on the way, you are moving or anything else traumatic is happening in their life that most likely has something to do with it.  For children to be happy they need to have that sense of stability and that can all go down the drain especially if their parents are splitting up.  Divorce is so common these days but that does not mean it is any easier on the children involved.  Instead of thinking about yourself at this difficult time you need to understand what they are feeling and be there to support them.

No matter what the reasons are for your child’s anger, start by sitting down and having a talk with them.  Sometimes that is all it takes is a couple minutes of your time to show your child you care and that you want to help them work things out.  Children adore being paid attention to by their parents and seeing that they care about them.  You can take them out to do something they enjoy to help get their mind off things.

You should always deal with a child’s anger and never just ignore it and hope it goes away on its own.  Never pretend it is not there or that it will just magically go away on its own because this is not the best idea.  This will give them someone they can talk to besides you where they can share what they are feeling and get good advice.  It will help them deal with their anger issues so you can get back to being a family without these problems standing in the way.

Joint Custody Of A Child Facts

In past times courts usually gave mothers full child custody and fathers received different levels of visitation rights. This did have a negative impact on the child and as time passed people realized that this is not always the best solution. We do not have the power to change this fact if it is not possible. If it is possible one good solution is named joint custody. Fathers will always be encouraged to be involved at all times in children lives. According to specialists we are in front of huge advantages in the event that a child has both parents around him while growing up. This is highly possible even after parents are getting divorced.

If the parents have both similar capabilities of caring for one child we are usually faced with courts awarding joint custody. We are faced with a decision that mostly suits the needs of the child. Similar rights need to be reality for both parents. If there is no real reason why one parent should lose parental rights and we see people trying to help the child, joint custody is one great way to handle the problem. Nowadays sole custody is usually preferred when we deal with violence, neglect or abuse.

We are sure that you want to know when the joint custody of a child will work really well. This custody type is perfect for those parents that are still living in the same city. If we see a civil relationship between the former couple members and child priorities are respected we are in front of a great solution. In most situations the joint custody of a child is taken into account when the court sees that parents still support each other to some degrees. If we even have the financial power to keep 2 residences fit for a child growing up all is perfect.

As we are sure you understand, we are in front of both disadvantages and advantages of having joint child custody. We can say that the biggest problem has to be transportation between the homes of the parents. Good news stands in the fact that this is also possibly solved and we are in front of one solution that will offer children advantages.

How To Choose Good Schools For Toddlers

Because parents want to lay a good foundation for their children, they take them to the best schools they can afford.  Therefore, it is important to conduct research and ensure that the school that a toddler attends builds the best foundation that a parent wants for their child.  Several factors are considered by all parents when they are searching for schools for toddlers.  The amount of school fees and affordability is among the first factors.  It is actually a big limiting factor as to which school a toddler will attend.  Other deterring factors are how long the distance is between home and school and for how long the toddler will be allowed to stay in school before going back home.  After all these factors are considered, there are still many schools that parents can comfortably take their children.

In most of the 1990’s, toddlers did not have to attend school until they reached at least four years old.  However, times have changed and parents are now forced to take their two year old toddlers to school and they go to either their second jobs or to college.  For this reason, the main place where a toddler will shape their characters is more in school than at home.  Therefore, they should be able to provide toddlers with all the requirements a parent feels is necessary in the formative years.  This involves offering good education and social skills, offering a homely environment and showing love and care to the toddler.  Toddlers should be taught basic skills in life such as how to use the toilet and simple hygiene.  Other important lessons include basic communication skills, courtesy and how to treat other people in the right way.

Alphabet and numbers can also be introduced to a three year old toddler.  Toddlers need to play in order for them to develop well and teachers in such schools know when to stop teaching and let the child go out.  Playing is an important part of development for a child and should not be ignored.  Because toddlers are very active with other toddlers and toys, it is important for them to take an afternoon nap to relax.  These are some of the features that parents should look out for when looking for a good school in which to enroll their toddler.  It is important for a toddler to understand that they can trust other adults and not just their mothers and fathers.

Is The Answer Parenting Classes?

If you are a parent or even if you have a child on the way, you may want to consider signing up for parenting classes.  You have this child who is completely your responsibility and who you have to teach and bring up properly in the world.  Children are pretty easy to take care of when they are younger but as they start to develop and get older it can become a real challenge.  With parenting classes you have a teacher who is going to discuss with you everything to expect from parenting and how to deal with different problems.

You will learn all sorts of different things in these classes.  It can be hard to remember back to when you were a child and understand what your child is going through but you have to if you want to parent them effectively.  That can be really helpful because it allows you to remember just how hard things were sometimes when you were a child and see how they are feeling.  This generation of children has to go through so much more than we did when we were kids.

There are some huge changes and for instance kids are having sex earlier, getting pregnant, there are even kids as young as seven and eight who are being introduced to drugs and alcohol.  This is not something you want to have to think about as a parent but you have to face the facts.  This is one of the issues that will be covered in your parenting classes, because you will learn how to deal with problems like this and what the best solution is.  Often parents who are going through a divorce whether they mean to or not end up getting their kids involved and this is really not fair.

You want to make sure you are not taking it out on your child, accidentally or on purpose, and be there to support them because they are going through just as much as you.  No matter how old they are you are still their parent and should not be using them to relieve your stress and problems.  If you feel your child’s problems are too much for you to handle on your own you could always bring a professional counselor into the picture.  You may want to be the one your child shares their thoughts and feelings with but few children want to discuss personal issues with their parents.

Talking to them as a parent is important as well but a lot of the time children do not feel that comfortable talking to their parent.  They may be more open and honest to someone they do not know than to their own parent.  To sign up for parenting classes you can take a look around your local area and should be able to find some options.  You will be so glad you did because it will allow you to see your child in a new light.

Tips For Discipline For Toddlers

Parents find discipline for toddlers very difficult because they have to show them they love them and still be strict while doing it.  Therefore, parents need to create the rules in a way that following them does not demand too much from the young toddler who does not understand them.  Parents will set certain limits and most toddlers will push their way to see just how much they can get away with.  Parents should therefore be very careful to ensure that they do not stray from the rules and follow the toddler.  However, they should be very strict yet loving when doing this and realize that the toddler will fuss when they cannot do what they want.  It is important to understand a toddler before implementing a form of disciplinary measure in order for it to work.  Toddlers will feel safe and secure around their parents and will therefore let them set their limits for what they can or cannot do.

Because it is not too demanding, time out is a very common form of discipline.  When a toddler is made to sit in a corner for a few minutes without doing anything, they feel very bad and do not want to repeat it.  To calculate how long a toddler should sit alone, take a minute for every year they have in age.  Parents should also learn to ignore temper tantrums so that toddlers understand that they cannot get their way by crying and shouting.  Parents should set limits and show consistency with them and this can be used as another disciplinary measure for toddlers.  In addition, parents should create a positive environment where the toddler is praised for doing good things and not just being reprimanded.

It is important to reinforce discipline both when at home and when not in the house.  This means that if a toddler misbehaves when they are outside, they should be punished there and not wait until they get home later.  This is because they will be punished and they may not even remember why they are being punished and will not connect it to their actions.  They should also be punished away from other people to avoid embarrassing them and lowering their self esteem.  Discipline for toddlers is very important because it helps form the correct characters that a toddler will take up in future and therefore sets a good foundation.

Signing Up For Parenting Support Groups: How They Can Help

All the parents out there know just how hard their job is.  Single parents especially, whether your spouse is on leave in the military or you have gotten divorced, parenting support groups may be your godsend.  Parenting support groups are set up for just this reason.  They are groups of people, all of whom are parents, and who are there to support one another.

You know that you can relate to all these people because they are in just the same boat as you.  The point of these groups is to have a set of parents that are helping others and it can mean the world if you are struggling.  You can bounce ideas off of them, see how they are handling the same situation in their own life and even make some really good friends.  Just because you have your own friends, some of them are probably not parents and here you know that each and every one is in the same situation as you.

If you are interested in joining up with one of these groups there are a few routes you could take.  Whatever the case may be, you can take a look around your local area and find out which parenting support groups are available.  There is also the option of going online.  This is more preferable for many parents who are busy but who still want the help of a support group.

This makes things more convenient for a lot of parents.  Most parents have enough on their plate already so the option of going online is a really great one.  All you have to do is turn your computer on and get started in the meeting at the right time.  It is pretty easy to see why there are so many parents out there relying on these support groups to help them get by.

Children are being introduced to things like drugs and sex at a much earlier age.  Or maybe you are in a preschool parenting support group and talk about your frustrations of when you find your child drawing on the wall or throwing their dinner on the floor.  Whenever you feel stressed or do not know which way to turn you can rely on these parenting support groups to help.  You will be so glad that you took the time to join a parenting support group like this.
